Cyclone Gabrielle Cyclone conditions in the North Island are delivering more rain to growers already struggling with washed-out crops. Some of our Pukekohe growers were reporting losses of up to 30 percent from January’s adverse weather. Every flood event can equate to weeks of lost production as well as disruption to key logistics such as transport and seasonal work like kiwifruit thinning. • Iceberg Lettuce – we are experiencing major shortages with prices firm • Pip fruit – Hawkes Bay orchards have been impacted by the flooding and supply this season will be challenging. • Broccoli – supply is very tight and prices are firm • Soft Leaf Salads – supply is short due to heavy rain • NZ Citrus – Gisborne orchards have been hit hard from the cyclone, expect the supply to be limited this coming season. • Melons – Supply is very limited and prices are firm Our processing plants are able to accommodate your specific needs with our processed fruit and vegetable options under our Prepared Produce brand.
